Rebecca A Finkenhofer

September 13, 2000 — December 28, 2016

Rebecca A. Finkenhofer, 16, of Machesney Park, passed away December 28, 2016 at her home. Born September 13, 2000, in Rockford, the daughter of Timothy Finkenhofer & Megan (Puckett) Cabay. She was a sophomore at Harlem High School, where she had many friends. Rebecca attended both Harvest Bible Chapel of Rockford and Life Church Assembly of God in Roscoe. She was active with her Life Group friends from Rockford First. She loved spending time with family, helping others, and teaching people about God. She had a tremendous hope for the people around her and always sought to see the good in people. A tomboy at heart, she was interested in fashion but also enjoyed working on cars. She could play baseball and soccer, but also enjoyed cooking, reading and coloring. Rebecca aspired to become a RN. Described by those who met her as a shy girl at first, but when she got to know you, she became your dedicated friend. Rebecca quickly became a part of many families she encountered over her short time; including but not limited to Soppet, Cabay, Hecklesmiller, and Jindrich. She will be missed by those whose lives she touched. In honor of Rebecca's love for the colors purple & blue, the family has asked everyone to wear purple or blue attire.
Survivors include parents Megan Cabay and Timothy (girlfriend Tabitha Jindrich), brothers Christian & Jonathan Heckelsmiller, and Elliot Finkenhofer; sister Alyssa Cabay; stepsister Samantha Cabay; maternal grandparents Dennis (Cheryl) Puckett; maternal great grandparents Otta Lee Puckett and Ethel Drake; paternal grandmother Barbara Finkenhofer; paternal great grandmother Theresa Justice; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; best friend Sinclair Drysdale. Predeceased by paternal grandfather Robert Sr., and uncle Tim.
In honor of Rebecca's love for the colors purple & blue, the family has asked everyone to wear purple or blue attire.
