Beloved Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfathernbsp;
Raymond Ray R. Pozzi, 87 a life long resident of Rockford, died Monday, March 10, 2008 at St. Anne Nursing Center. Born, September 24, 1920 the son of James and Ersilia (Bistoletti) Pozzi. Was a 1939 graduate of Central High School. Served in the United States Navy from 1944-1946 during WWII in the Pacific Campaign on the USS Fremont.nbsp; Married his loving wife Thelma Sheehan on February 8, 1947 at St. James in Rockford. Employed for 45 years at Barnes Drill Co. as a machinist and service engineer, retiring in 1985. Ray was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, the American Legion and was a life long member of the Verdi Club. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the Loyalton for their kind words and deeds and the special care they gave to Ray. Survivors include his children, Stephan (Joanne) Pozzi of Winnebago, Elizabeth Ann Beth (John) Connor of Rockford and Kevin (Jodie) Pozzi of Winnebago; grandchildren, Andrew (Lisa) Pozzi, Bryan Pozzi, Daniel DeMars and Derek DeMars; great grandchildren, Gabriella and Andrew Jr.; nieces and nephews and special friend Muffin. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Thelma on April 17, 2005, brothers, Victor and Ronald Pozzi and sister, Dora Dudley. nbsp; Funeral Mass Friday, March 14, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church with Rev. Monsignor Thomas E. Bailes officiating. Entombment in Sunset Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation Thursday, March 13 from 4-6 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel 1860 S. Mulford Rd. and will continue on Friday at Church from 9-9:45 a.m.nbsp; In lieu of flowers please make memorials in his name to Noahs Ark Animal Sanctuary Inc. 111 N. First, Rockford, ILnbsp; 61107.
