Raymond P. Kaczmarek, 78, Rockford, formerly of Milwaukee, passed away on Thursday, August 2, 2012 in his home surrounded by his family. Ray was born in Milwaukee, WI. on May 17, 1934; the son of Henry and Leona(VonLandsee) Kaczmarek. He married Alice Konieczka at St. Josephats Basilica on December 26, 1953. Ray attended the Milwaukee Institute of Technology, earning his Federal Communication License. Ray spent 30 years living in Milwaukee where he worked for CutlerHammer and was involved with the Apollo Space Program. Ray and Alice came to Rockford where he spent the next 37 years as an engineer working for both WREX and WTVO until his retirement in 2004. Ray was a quiet, gentle and honest man. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor and his ability to fix anything. Ray loved reading WWII books and spending time with his family. He was a member of Illinois Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He is survived by his wife, Alice;sons, Michael (Jean) and William Kaczmarek; grandchildren, Julia Kaczmarek and Jamison Kaczmarek; sisterinlaws, Barb (Bob) Katzfey and Virginia Kaczmarek; nieces, Emily (Katzfey) Rodriguez and Sheryl Kaczmarek ; nephews, Jaimie Kaczmarek,Dane Kaczmarek and Matt Katzfey.A memorial service will be on Monday, August 6, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave. Visitation from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Josephs Indian School and Mission.
