Randall Lee Hartsock

Randall Lee Hartsock, 72, of Rockford died Monday, April 24, 2017 in his home with his wife at his side. Born June 3, 1944 in Dante, VA the son of L.G. and Ella (Glovier) Hartsock. Graduated from St. Paul High School in Virginia and entered in the US Army serving three tours in Vietnam. After the war he returned home in 1967 and began his career as a woodworker for Guilford Corporation for 36 years. Married his loving wife, Nancy S. Braun in 1977. Randall was a devoted husband, father and papaw and in the last two weeks, a proud great grandfather. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and feeding the squirrels. He was a master at Lego set construction and enjoyed reading to his grandchildren. His smile and warm heart will be missed greatly by his family and many friends.
Survivors include his wife Nancy of Rockford; children, Tonya (Bruce) Brown; Robert Braun and Matthew (Traci) Hartsock all of Rockford; grandchildren, Michael Brown, Miranda Brown, Justin Braun, Kayla Braun, Cecilia Hartsock; Faith Hartsock and Matthew Lee Hartsock Jr.; great grandson, Levi Henry Brown; brother, Gary (Debbie) Hartsock of VA; sisters, Barbara (Clinton) Asbury and Karen (Greg) Gilbert both of VA and several nieces and nephews and many of cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Boyd Glovier, Traci Hartsock and Northern Illinois Hospice.
Funeral service Saturday, April 29 at 6 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel 1860 S. Mulford Rd. with visitation from 4-6 p.m. Randall will be laid to rest in Virginia. Funeral service Friday, May 5, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Castlewood Funeral Home, Castlewood, VA with a visitation from 10 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be held in Temple Hill Cemetery, Castlewood, VA. In lieu of flowers memorials to the family for a fund to be established at a later date.
