Randal “Randy” S. Charlton, 64, of Rockton, passed away on Friday, May 20, 2016 surrounded by his family. He was born on May 7, 1952 in Rockford, the son of Sherman and Barbara (Dygert) Charlton. Randy served proudly in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. Schenectady during Vietnam. He worked as a butcher at Cub Foods for nearly 20 years. Randy was an avid traveler, particularly with Circle of Love group through Rockford First Church, traveling to 5 continents and countless countries. When home, he loved spending time on his Harley, with his family and golfing.
Survived by his sons, Jeremy (Beth) Charlton and Timothy Charlton; his granddaughter, Andrea; his father Sherman(Bobbie) Charlton; his siblings, Shawn Charlton, David (Sherilyn) Charlton, and Betty Jane Charlton; his nephew Chad Charlton; caretaker Beverly Charlton; close friends Ben Graceffa, Jaxon Oshita, and Stephen Sievers. He is predeceased by his son, Andrew Charlton, and mother.
A visitation will be held from 3:00-6:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel. Military honors at 6:00 p.m. Inurnment Sunset Memorial Garden at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Cancer Society appreciated.
