R. Lee Borrett, 65, of Rockford passed away Friday, April 8, 2016 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. Born December 20, 1950 in Guttenberg, IA, the son of Raymond E. & Ada Jane (Davis) Borrett. Lee graduated from Harlem High School, class of 1968 and also from Rock Valley College. Married Donna Hopper in Loves Park, IL on May 20, 1972. Lee was considered an entrepreneur starting and owning his companies: Underground Services Inc., and Egg Harbor Fun Park in Door County, WI. After retiring he worked with his “adopted son” Jordan Gaspard at Ikon Electric. He enjoyed music, cars, watching the Chicago Bears, but most of all spending time with his family, including his recent trip to Alaska with his wife.
Survivors include Donna, his wife and best friend, beloved daughter Shannon; sister Judy (Don) Swanson of Summerfield, FL; brothers Allan (Janet) Borrett of Laurel, MT; and Rick (Terri) Borrett of Belvidere, IL; numerous nieces, nephews and “adopted son” Jordan. Predeceased by parents, brother Vernon, sister-in-law Bonnie Borrett and in-laws Walter & Jo Marie Hopper.
Memorial service will be 12 noon Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 1860 S. Mulford Rd., with Lee’s good friend Rev. Jeff Honson officiating. Visitation from 11 am until time of service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Northridge Community Church, Rockford Rescue Mission, or Carpenter’s Place.
