RC Rexroad, 85, passed away peacefully in his home on December 31, 2021 with his wife by his side. RC was born on July 27, 1936 in Pocahontas, AR to Berry Rexroad and Edna Boyd Rexroad. After his mother’s death, he was raised by his loving stepmother, Ruby Crawford Rexroad.
After graduating from Pocahontas, AR High School, he moved to Rockford, IL in 1954. There he met Roberta Westmoreland, and they were married on July 28, 1957. RC served with the US Army in Korea. He was employed by Rockford Powertrain for 30 years, retiring in 1994. He was a member of Maywood Evangelical Free Church.
RC had many interests and shared his time and resources freely with everyone. He served his church and neighbors well, including serving as president of the condo association for several years. After retiring, he continued to work at several jobs. The one he loved most was driving for Autoland Outlets, where the people became like family.
RC enjoyed music of all kinds and attended concerts by various artists. His favorites were southern gospel music and the Texas Tenors. He enjoyed traveling and had visited several countries and much of the US. But his real pride and joy was his family.
RC is survived by his wife of 64 years, Roberta; two sons, Robert (Katharine) Rexroad of Leesburg, VA; Kerry Rexroad of Bagdad, KY; five grandchildren, Sarah Rexroad of Roanoke, VA, Samuel (Jaymisyn) Rexroad of Columbus, MS, Nicholas (Ellie) Rexroad of Blacksburg, VA, Nathaniel Rexroad and Caleb Rexroad, both of Colorado Springs, CO; two foster great grandchildren, Maverick and Andrew; brother Dan (Kathy) Rexroad of Black Hawk, SD; niece Barbara Byers, nephews Garry Hibbard, Jonathan Rexroad and Andrew Rexroad; and many cousins. Predeceased by his father, mother, stepmother and sister, Marjorie Hibbard.
