Pringle “Don” Campbell, 76, Rockford, a devoted, loving husband and father, passed away Monday, June 6, 2016, in SwedishAmerican Hospital. He was born June 28, 1939, in Pocahontas, Arkansas, the son of Pringle and Myrtle (Ashcraft) Campbell. Don graduated from Pocahontas High School and attended Rock Valley College. He was a veteran of the Army serving for 3 years. Don married Martha Whitley in Rockford on December 31, 1966. He worked at Chrysler Corporation for over 30 years retiring January 31, 1997. Don attended Faith Tabernacle and was saved under Reverend Earnest Moen at First Assembly of God Church, now Rockford First. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #102 in Loves Park and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Don enjoyed meeting his buddies at McDonalds for their morning “Bull Session”. Don was a lover of all creatures in nature, especially his hummingbirds that he fed around his home. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and loved attending all sporting events that his children and grandchildren participated in when they were growing up. Known to many as “Mr. C” at the softball fields and bowling center in the Rockford area. You could find Don in his favorite folding chair directly behind home plate with a bag of popcorn or at the bowling center. “Yes”, he was the one there 2 hours early gathering tables and chairs for him and our bowling team so he had the best view. Games played out of state on a regular bases did not stop him either. He made ALL of those too. To say he supported his children and grandchildren is an understatement. Don treated his family like he did work. NEVER MISSED A DAY. He will be extremely missed and forever loved!
