Pietro "Pete" Salamone

Pietro “Pete” Salamone, 76, of Winnebago passed away Thursday, February 15, 2018 in his home. Born August 14, 1941, in Aragona, Sicily, the son of Francesco and Teresa (Cannistraro) Salamone. Pete married Paola Seminerio on September 26, 1964 in Aragona, Sicily. He attended college in Sicily for Industrial Chemical Engineering before coming to the United States in 1973 and was employed by Gunite Corporation from 1973 until retirement in 2003. In retirement, he enjoyed working in the restaurant business. Pete was an amazing husband, father, nonno, brother, uncle and friend. He was proud of his family and loved spending time with them. Pete was calm, patient and always had a smile on his face. He loved to sing and dance. Together, Pete and Paola, were naturally, beautiful dancers and were magical on the dance floor.
Lovingly survived and dearly missed by his wife of 53 years, Paola; children, Teresa (Benny) Cimino, Connie (Nick) Cimino, Adriana (Vince) Cimino and Giovanni Salamone; grandchildren, Frank G. Cimino, Peter A. Cimino, Frank N. Cimino, Marco Cimino, Cristina Cimino, Peter D. Cimino and Paula J. Cimino; siblings, Luigi (Giovanna) Salamone, Vincenzo (Agnese) Salamone, Carmelo Salamone, Caterina (Girolamo) Marrella, Rosa (Carmelo) Buscemi, Lilla (Filippo) Morreale; sisters-in-law, Susan Calvanese, Stephanie Seminerio, Maria Seminerio, Debra Cunningham and Paolina Salamone; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, brothers, Silvestre and Alessandro, in-laws, Vincenzo and Concetta Seminerio, brothers-in-law, Vince Calvanese, Albert Seminerio, Iggy Seminerio and Carl Seminerio. Funeral mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with Franciscan Friars officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m., with rosary recited at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Road and will continue on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. at the church. Entombment in Sunset Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
