Phoebe M. Shirley

Phoebe M. Shirley, 52, of Rockford, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, August 30, 2015. She was born in Peru, Indiana on August 24, 1963; to parents Bill and Lona (Gimlich) Burns. Phoebe was the youngest of 13 brothers and sisters. She married her loving husband, Glenn Shirley, on February 24, 2000; in Rockford, Illinois. Phoebe and Glenn both owned and operated D & S Contractors. Phoebe regularly attended North East Christian Church, she enjoyed traveling, the outdoors, gardening, and her Pittsburg Steelers. Phoebe will always be remembered as an upbeat, and easy going person, who loved spending time with her family, regardless of what she was doing.

Phoebe is survived by her husband, Glenn Shirley; sons, David (Tiffany) Way and Lance (Kate) Shirley; grandchildren, David, Stephanie, Kari, and Ashley; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is predeceased by two children, Steven Way and Lauren Shirley; and her parents.
Funeral service will be 5PM, Saturday, September 5, 2015; at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd., Rockford, IL, 61108; with Pastor Wayne Hume officiating; with a visitation one hour prior to service at 4PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Samaritan’s Purse, in Phoebe’s honor. Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel cared for the Shirley family.
