Phillip "Jack" Schroeder

Phillip “Jack” Schroeder, age 91, of Rockford, peacefully passed away at home on January 4, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.

Jack was born on August 23, 1932, in Champaign, Illinois, the son of Bernard and Hazel Schroeder. After Jack’s high school graduation, he served in the US Army during the Korean War.

On April 28, 1956, Jack married Wanda Wagner in Clinton, Illinois. Jack retired from Sears Roebuck and Co. in Rockford Illinois in 1991 after 35 years of service. He was an avid outdoorsman and fisherman. Jack was a member of Christ United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday school for many years and served on many committees.

Jack will be missed by those who loved him most and is survived by his devoted, loving wife of 67 years, Wanda Schroeder; children, Jacki (Steven) Ziegert, Julie (Mark) Trojniar, grandchildren, Kaitlyn Ziegert (Frank Simonetta), and Tyler Ziegert, brother, Jerry Schroeder, sister Janet (John) Fossum; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents and sister, Joan Carr.
