Phillip G. Adkins, 90, of Rockford, was reunited with the love of his life on March 27, 2025. Born in Benton, IL, on December 27, 1934, to Clyde and Elva (Carney) Adkins. Phillip married Janice Adkins in Washington on June 10th of 1956 and they soon welcomed two children together. Phillip had a great love for family along with a great sense of humor, staying positive through the end. Remembered for his generosity, he would often partake in random acts of kindness, without others knowing. To support his family, Phillip owned Artesian Well Company, as well as being a real estate developer and agent. Outside of that, he was a member of Spring Creek United Church of Christ and enjoyed attending theatre shows and live music.
He is survived by his children, Shon Adkins and Kathy Adkins; grandchildren, Eric Luker, Brittany Hammer, Anthony Heaslip; great-grandchildren, Audrina Hammer, Ryan Hammer; grand-dog, Toby J; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents; wife, Janice; brothers, James Adkins and Kenneth Adkins; daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Engelhart; and nephew, Monte Adkins.
A memorial visitation for Phillip will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, from 5:00 through 6:00 p.m. at Spring Creek United Church of Christ, 4500 Spring Creek Rd., Rockford, IL 61114.
