Philip “Phil” S. Martini, 71, Loves Park, passed away in his home on Saturday, May 4, 2024. He was born February 1, 1953, in Evergreen Park, the son of Phillip and Alice (O’Rourke) Martini. Phil was a veteran of the Navy serving during the Viet Nam War. He married Carmen Viola in Rockford on November 2, 2018. Phil was the Vice President of SEIU Local #73 (Service Employees International Union) until his retirement. He attended St. Bridget Catholic Church and was a member of the VFW Loves Park Post #9759. Phil was active in the heroes to Health Care which is an organization that assists Veterans in finding careers in the health care field.
Survived by his loving wife, Carmen; his sons, James Martini of Lansing, IL and Joe (Hannah) Martini of Milwaukee, WI; his step-son, Brian Dickinson; his step-daughter, Michele Dickinson; his 8 grandchildren; his siblings, Tom (Linda) Martini of Joliet, Mike (Nancy) Martini of Chicago and Josette (Robert) Rappel of NC; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Predeceased by his parents and his 2 sons, Tony and Phil Martini.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at St. Bridget Catholic Church, 600 Clifford Av, Loves Park with Mgsr. Steve Knox officiating. Burial in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL. A visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of Mass at the church.
