Philbert Louis Moran, 95, of Rockford, died May 18, 2017, at The Atrium. Born October 3, 1921 in Rockford, son of Bert and Frances Moran. Moved to Harlingen, Texas upon his retirement in 1986 and returned to Rockford in 2008. Phil proudly served in the Navy during World War II and worked for Woodward Governor Company his entire career of 43 years. Loved music, played clarinet, oboe, saxophone and flute. Member of a dance band in high school, the Rockford Symphony Orchestra, the McAllen Band and the Rockford Old Towne Band. Loved traveling and playing golf. Member of St. Bridget Catholic Church, Loves Park.
Survivors include son, Larry L. Moran of Laguna Niguel, CA; daughter, Sister May Kay Moran, SSCM of Rockford; two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his loving wife, Beverly, in 1996.
Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Bridget Catholic Church. A visitation will be held at the church from 10:30 a.m. until time of service. Military honors immediately following Mass. Inurnment Private. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Jubilee Shelter Care, 412 N. Church Street, Rockford.
