Peter Michael Saladino, 65, of Loves Park, passed away suddenly in his home on December 5, 2015. Born November 19, 1950 in Rockford to Joseph and Grace Saladino. Loving and adoring father to Michael Santino Saladino and Andrew Colombi. Peter was self-employed as the owner/operator of Forest City Amusement. Peter had a passion for giving and was a contributor to St. Jude’s and many other charities benefiting children for many years. Peter had a passion for baseball, was an exceptional player and was on the winning team of the 1964 Little League World Series. He was a member of the St. Ambrogio Society and many other Italian societies of Rockford.
Peter was truly one of a kind. He was an amazing father, son, brother, uncle and friend. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, style, grace, wit and charm. He touched the lives of so many and will be forever missed.
Peter leaves behind to grieve, mother of his son Michael, Jilly Martini; his sons, Michael Santino and Andrew, sister Angela Tassoni, brothers Andrew Saladino, Joe (Betty) Saladino and Tony (Cary) Saladino; nieces and nephews, Shelley, Michelle, John, Courtney (Shane), John, Joe T., Joe Sal, Nicole, Cindy (Oak), Stephanie and Tony, and Tracy; Great nephews and niece, several cousins, many childhood close friends, and special friend Judy Vecchio. Predeceased by his father and mother and brother, Frank (Babe) Saladino, dogs Cocoa, Nina, Guido and Magoo.
Funeral Mass 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 11, 2015 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1010 Ferguson Street. Visitation from 4-7 pm Thursday December 10, 2015 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford, IL 61108. Visitation also on Friday from 10 a, until time of service. Burial in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established at a later date. Express online condolences at Fitzgeraldfh.com.
