Peter D. Nanni

Peter D. Nanni, age 90, of Rockford, passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2023.

Peter was born in Rockford on November 30, 1932, the son of Dario and Josephine (Calcurcio) Nanni. He graduated from East High School and worked as a roll thread supervisor for many dedicated years with Elco Industries Inc. Peter married Anita Giardono on July 18, 1953. He was a lifetime member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church as well as the Holy Name Society. Peter also volunteered his time at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center with their valet services. He enjoyed restoring antique cars including a 1923 Model T as well as a Model A. Peter loved games including his crossword puzzles, words with friends and rummikube. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan and most importantly, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Peter will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Anita Nanni; children, Cheryl (Mike) Paris, Denise (Dan) Wright, Greg (Gigi) Nanni and Peter (Janet) Nanni; grandchildren, Gary (Tavia) Paris, Bryan McWilliams, Michelle (Drew) DeVlieger, Lisa (Matt) Ralston, Shane Wright, Chelsea Nanni, Kyle Nanni, Jessika Nanni and Olivia Nanni; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, Dario (Debbie) Nanni and Mario Nanni; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by his brother, Andrew (Vivian) Nanni.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Peter’s oncologist, Dr. A. Ceilish, all staff and nurses at Alpine Fireside and the residents and staff of Grand Victorian for their kindness, care and compassion for Peter and his family.

Visitation will be Monday, June 19, 2023, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford, IL 61108. Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1010 Ferguson St. Rockford, IL 61102. Entombment will conclude in Calvary Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum, Winnebago, IL.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family of Peter Nanni to be established later.
