Peter Agostini, 97, passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2021. He had a smile, kiss and embrace for everyone he met. He was a loving, grateful, happy, kind and talented husband, father, grandfather, Godfather, brother, uncle and friend. He attributed his long life to running, golfing, gardening and walking many miles a day with his wife of 72 years, Norma, and beloved Rottweiler by his side. He always said when he married Norma that is when he truly started living. Prior to marrying, he followed in his father's footsteps by joining the US Army. Being a first generation Italian American, he knew the importance of fighting for this country. His father had become a citizen immediately after arriving from Italy to fight in WWI alongside US soldiers. Peter was a proud WWII US Army veteran who served on the island of Oahu as an Army Sergeant in the Radar Division. Always curious, Peter loved learning about current events, history, people, places and animals. His days always included watching and reading the news, as well as doing crossword puzzles, watching documentaries, westerns and war movies, cooking shows, PBS series and Cubs and Bears games. He enjoyed being a member of St. Anthony's, then St. Bernadette's Catholic Church, the Venetian Club and Veneto Nel Mondo. Working hard his entire life, once retired, he and his wife traveled the world as he always wanted to do. Meeting and staying in the homes of family in Italy and Australia were favorite stories to retell with the very people that became constants in his life, despite the physical distance. He is survived by his daughters Lori Agostini, Cheryl (Brian) Buffington, his granddaughters Katie and Elena Buffington and his sister Linda Gunderson. Special thanks and gratitude to the Haller, Calvagna, Rapisarda, Pilotto and DeCastris families for their love, support and constant presence. He died with a passport full of stamps and a lifetime of memories. As per his wishes, there will be no services. Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory assisted the family.
