Penny L. (Scheidegger) Hurlbut

Penny Lynn (Scheidegger) Hurlbut, 55, of Rockford, passed away November 9, 2018 in her parents’ home surrounded by her loving family. Born January 16, 1963 in Rockford the daughter of Roger & Shirley (Klopfenstein) Scheidegger. Graduated from Rockford West High School in 1981, Judson University in 2000, and National Lewis in 2002 earning her masters in counseling, LCPC license in 2004. Penny was the Regional Director at Camelot Care Center for 13 years. Married Mark Hurlbut in Rockford on December 28, 1996. Penny loved spending time in nature, especially camping and working in her garden where she could be “unplugged”. She also loved spending time with family and friends. Penny will be truly missed.
She is survived by her husband, Mark; parents, Roger & Shirley; siblings, Heidi (Phil) and family Megan and Colin Elsbree; Mark (Lisa Smith) and family Heather (Dale) Alderman, Andrew (Erica) and Tara Scheidegger, Kaitlan (Jim) Kenney, and Leah, Landon, Emily and Doug Scheidegger; Brian (Laura Crossley) and family Jonathan and Emma Scheidegger; Dr. Amie Scheidegger, Nancy Scheidegger and AFS sister Inese (Jon) and son Zandis Hoover; Great niece and nephew Hunter and Madison Scheidegger; Mother in-law, Janet Hurlbut; brother-in-law Mike and daughter Tysa Hurlbut, and many wonderful aunts, uncles and cousins. Predeceased by father in-law Mike Hurlbut. Penny wanted to thank Heartland Hospice for the care provided and her exceptional Camelot Care Center co-workers and foster parents.
Funeral service will be 12 pm Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 3910 N. Rockton Ave., Rockford, IL 61103. Visitation from 10 a.m. until time of service.
