Pauline "Polly" Thomas

Pauline (Polly) Thomas died September 13, 2017. Born June 29, 1927 in Galena, IL daughter of Ernest and Christina Virtue. Pauline lived in Galena, graduated from Galena High and then graduated as a RN from Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing-Chicago in 1948. Pauline came to Rockford in October of 1949 and worked for Dr. J H Laubscher until she married Art Thomas and started her family. Since then she has worked for Lincoln Rental, a family owned business. A member of 3rd Presbyterian Church since 1954 where she sang in the choir and served as a trustee.

Survived by her 4 adoring children, Christine Thomas of Washington, Susan (John) Peck, Brad (Diane) Thomas, and Jeff (Kathy) Thomas all locally, seven grandchildren Ted, Brad, Tracy, Jodi, Jordan, Mathew and Lucas, 4 step-grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Also survived by a dear friend Gordon Copas and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, a son-in-law Steve Skeen, her brothers George and Bill, and her sister Betty.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 8th from 2:00-2 :30 at Third Presbyterian Church at 1221 Custer Ave., Rockford, IL. For those wishing to share their condolences a celebration of life will be held from 3:00-5:00 at the church. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Rockford Rescue Mission or Third Presbyterian Church.
