Paula M. Samerdyke

Paula M. Samerdyke, 79, of Rockford passed away March 5, 2020 at OSF St. Anthony Hospital. Born April 6, 1940 in Cleveland, OH, the daughter of John & Mary (Major) Steber. Graduated with her BSN from St. John’s University in Cleveland. Married her loving husband, Bertram “Bert” P. Samerdyke on June 22, 1963. A faithful member of Holy Family Catholic Church. A sister of PEO chapter LU and a volunteer at Midway Village. She enjoyed gardening, needle work, cooking and any kind of puzzles. Most of all she loved her family.
Survivors include children Mary (Jeff Pines) Samerdyke, Julia Samerdyke and Paul (Rachel) Samerdyke; brothers in law Richard Visocan and Lou DeLuca. Predeceased by husband, sisters Janet Visocan and Connie DeLuca.
Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 12, 2020 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4401 Highcrest Rd, with visitation from 9:30 until time of service. Entombment in Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to Poor Clares Corpus Christi Monastery, Presence Cor Mariae Center, activity department, Carpenter's Place or PEO Chapter LU.
