Paul W. Conrad

Paul W. Conrad, 66, of Rockford passed away Friday, June 29, 2018, together with his wife, Sheryl, due to injuries they sustained in an automobile accident. Born May 23, 1952, in Rockford, the son of Wilbur and Dorothea (Scott) Conrad. Paul was a graduate of West High School, Class of 1970. Paul married Sheryl Andreasen on September 4, 2004 in Rockford. He was formerly married to Lora (Abegglen) Conrad on April 8, 1972. Throughout his life, Paul was a sales representative for Washington National Insurance Company and Northland Paper Company and a general manager for Midland Paper. He was the owner/operator of Go Promotions and Knife to Life knife sharpening. He was an alumni member of the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corp, a member of the Tebala Shriners Club of Rockford and a member of the AMC Motorclub. Paul loved the outdoors, fishing, golfing and had a passion for gardening. He was a member of the International Wizard of Oz Club and had a unique love for SPAM. Paul lit up a room with his charm and presence and knew how to put a smile on everyone’s face with a joke he always had ready.

Survived by his children, Terry (Christina) Conrad, Brian Conrad and Nancy (Brett) GeRue; grandchildren Cera Sawyer, Cierra Conrad, Jacob Conrad, Jonathan Conrad, Caroline Conrad, Kaitlin GeRue, Grayson Conrad, Hannah Rindt-Conrad, Logan GeRue; great-grandchild Aria Sawyer; siblings, Marjorie Conrad, Shirley (Conrad) France, David Conrad and Audrey (Conrad) Shores. Predeceased by his parents, Wilbur and Dorothea and brother, Marvin Conrad.

Funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, July 6, 2018 at Zion Lutheran Church, 925 5th Avenue. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 North Rockton Avenue. Private family burial is planned.
