Paul Michael Scarpetta

Paul Michael Scarpetta, 93, of Rockford, passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2024.

Paul was born in Rockford, IL on February 26, 1931, the son of Anthony and Angela (Lombardo) Scarpetta. He attended St. Anthony grade school and graduated from West High School. After graduating, Paul went on to proudly serve in the United States Air Force.

Paul married Carol Jean Raymer on August 18, 1951. He worked as a machinist at Sundstrand Corp. for 38 years before retirement and was a member of the Sundstrand retiree club. Paul was a man of faith and a lifetime member of St. Anthony of Padua Parish. He was also an active member of the Verdi Club. He enjoyed traveling the U.S. and trips to Italy, as well as many family camping and fishing trips to Minnesota and Michigan. Paul also loved his bus trips to the casinos. Most of all, he cherished spending his time with family. 

Paul is survived by his wife, Carol Scarpetta; 3 children, John (Veda) Scarpetta, Belinda (David) Lund and Barbara (Bruce) Wolf; grandchildren, Gina Scarpetta, Nicholas (Erin) Scarpetta, Mike (Katie) Lund, Nathan (Melissa) Wolf, Stephanie (Scott) Hoftender and Ashley (Austin) Anderson; great-grandchildren, Samantha, Maggie, Kevin, Brooke, Leo, Dylan, Addison, Jake and Quinn; numerous nieces, nephews and special neighbors and dear friends, Bill (Sonia) Powell and Kay Ridlon. He is predeceased by his parents and 10 siblings. 

Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 29, 2024, at St. Anthony of Padua Parish, 1010 Ferguson St. Rockford, IL 61102 with visitation from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass. Entombment will conclude in Calvary Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum.
