Paul R. Groh, 83, of Cherry Valley, IL, passed away Friday, September 27, 2019 in his home. Born September 14, 1936 in Chicago, he was the son of Henry and Mary (Erdman) Groh.
A U.S. Army Veteran, Paul retired from Intermatic Inc. after 20 years of employment.
A true fisherman at heart, he enjoyed his annual fishing trips to Canada. An avid sports fan and southsider, he spent many years cheering on his beloved White Sox, Bears, Blackhawks and Bulls teams.
Survivors include his children, Paul Groh, Rich Groh, Donna (Brad) Garey and Mike Groh; grandchildren, Lucas Groh, Nick Hudik, Jake Hudik, Maddie Phelps, Nikki Phelps, Isabella Garey, Ava Garey and Olivia Garey; his significant other, Kathy Cates; nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughters, Cindy Groh-Hudik and Pam Groh-Phelps; sister, Elaine Ostrowski; brothers, Leon and Melvin Groh.
A Celebration of Paul's life will take place on Thursday, October 3, 2019, 3 p.m. at Bowes Creek Country Club-Porter's Pub, 1250 Bowes Creek Blvd., Elgin, IL. A reception will follow immediately after service 4 - 7 p.m. at the same location.
