Paul was born September 17, 1932 in Moline, IL to Meryle E. (Thornberg) and Wilbur B. Mueller.
He graduated from Coal Valley High School, Coal Valley, Illinois where he was elected class president. He graduated from Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois with a Bachelor of Science Degree, and graduated from the University of Washington State with a Masters in Geology.
He was put in charge of oil exploration in the Powder River basin of Wyoming for Atlantic Richfield and later took a position as an Earth Science teacher at Guilford High School in Rockford, Illinois where he taught an estimate of 6125 eleventh and twelfth grade students. Many said he was their favorite teacher. There he sought to move the world’s twin mountains of intolerance and ignorance toward the light. It’s not important that one man cannot move a mountain. It’s only important that men try. Some echo of his influence will live on through future generations.
