Paul K Swanson

Paul K. Swanson, 77, Loves Park, died Sunday, December 24, 2017 in his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born September 1, 1940 in Estherville, IA, son of John A. and Bertha Noram Swanson. Graduated from Spirit Lake High School. Served in the U.S. Air Force from 1958-1962, spending much of that time in England. Married Jeanie E. Grimes in Hampshire on November 16, 1968. Employed by Chrysler Corp. from the time the Belvidere Plant opened until he retired in 1998 after 33 years. Member of Poplar Grove United Methodist Church and the SM&SF Club. Paul was truly a family man and a huge grandkid fan. He was also a life-long Denver Bronco supporter.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanie; children, Kim (Dale) Thorn, Perrysburg, OH, Jackie (John) Bunger, Roscoe and Dave (Kate) Swanson, Loves Park; grandchildren, Jake, Brie, Nick and Nolan Thorn, Trevor, Ryan and Maddie Bunger, Matt and Lindsay Swanson; siblings, Danny Swanson, Sandra Perry, Virginia Katona, Linda Muns, Judy Swanson, John Swanson, Lloyd Swanson; numerous nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Velda M. Grimes; brothers-in-law, John Grimes and Jim Grimes. Predeceased by his parents, sister, Marianne Swanson, brothers, David and Eugene Swanson.
The Swanson family would like to extend a special thank you to Serenity Hospice and Home, and the Palliative Care Services and Critical Care Department of Swedish American Hospital for the outstanding care they gave Paul.
A celebration of Paul’s life will be held at noon on Saturday, December 30, 2017 in Poplar Grove United Methodist Church, with Rev. Doug Carroll officiating. Visitation from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Serenity Hospice and Home or Palliative Care Services of Swedish American Hospital.
