Paul Joseph Sullivan, 71 of Rockford died Friday, November 27, 2009 in Rockford Memorial Hospital. Born April 29, 1938 in Rockford, the son of William F. and Berneita M. (Murphy) Sullivan. He married Patricia Ann Horn on November 25, 1961 in Chicago. Paul worked for Barber Colman for over 35 years and enjoyed his employment. He also served in the United States Army and was proud to be a veteran. Paul was a great storyteller. In the later part of his life, he would talk with his children and sister retelling events of the day and stories of the past always making them laugh and smile. Paul is survived by his children Mary Sullivan (Brent Hayward), Therese Sullivan, Dan Sullivan and Laura (Allen) Godin. Grandchildren Harrison Hayward, Cory, Emily, Kyle, Ryan Godin and Tasha Sullivan. Sister Sr. Eileen Sullivan O.P., sister-in-law Leona Horn, brothers-in-law Tim (Eleanor) Horn, Herb Horn, many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and very dear friends of the family Sr. Sophie McLeod (passed away) and Sr. Audrey Hull. He is predeceased by his parents, wife Patricia Ann in 1996 who he has greatly loved and missed, brothers James T. and William N. Sullivan, brothers-in-law William Horn and Oscar Taft. Sister-in-law Rose Marie Taft. The family would like to thank Dr. Reyes and the staff at the VA Clinic. Paul was a dedicated son and brother caring for his parents and brother William before their deaths. He will be greatly missed. Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Bridget Catholic Church. Visitation will be Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass in the church.
