Paul E. Zickert

Paul E. Zickert, 88, of Rockford, passed away Wednesday, October 10, 2018. He was born August 8, 1930, in Beloit Wisconsin, the son of Verne and Sadie (Wegner) Zickert. Paul graduated from Beloit High School class of 1949. He married the love of his life, Raquel Munoz, on June 8, 1957. Paul attended Northern Illinois University and obtained his Master’s Degree from Rockford College. He worked for many years as a principal in the Rockford School District #205. Paul was an excellent father and a man of strong Christian faith. Paul would help anyone in need and was very generous. He volunteered at the American Cancer Society, Grace United Methodist Church and Family Advocate. He enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and Europe. Paul loved to fish and his beloved dogs. Most of all Paul loved his family. He will forever be in the hearts of those he touched.
Survived by his wife, Raquel; children, Matthew (Nanette) Zickert, Lisa (Bobby Wills) Sweeney, Adam (Patty) Zickert and Karla (John) Cook; grandchildren, Jordan, Brianna, Tasha (Andrew), Tyler, Rosemary, Jessica (Andrew), Maria (Jeret), Theresa (Justin), Lydia, Josh (Geena) and Seth (Megan); great grandchildren, Devin, David, Aubrey, Avionna, Haley, Logan, Zoey, Bennett, Addison, Alexis, Conner and Dylan; brothers, Don (Sue) Zickert and Carl Zickert and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents; sister Caroline Schindler and sister-in-law, Jane Zickert; brother-in-law, Ken Schindler and grandson, Jonathon Cook.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 15, 2018 at Grace United Methodist Church, 3555 McFarland Rd. Rockford, IL 61114. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Sunday, October 14, 2018 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford, IL 61108 and again at 10:00 a.m. until time of service Monday, October 15, 2018 at Grace United Methodist Church. Private Burial at Eastlawn Cemetery Beloit, WI.
