Symanek, 88, of Rockford, died at 9:22 pm, Wednesday, September 26, 2007 .nbsp; Born August 26, 1919 in Freeport, IL, the son of August and Marie (Dombrowski) Symanek.nbsp; Paul joined the Army immediately following graduation from Freeport High School. He is a WWII survivor, D-Day Vet., and a lifetime member of the Foreign Wars.nbsp; He moved to Rockford following WWII, worked and retired from National Lock, and met the love of his life Pauline Heddon.nbsp; They were married for 54 years when she passed away in 2002.nbsp; Member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church.nbsp; Paul is survived by care giver and niece, Mary Ann (Ozzie) Webb and niece, Evelyn (Roger) Bird both of Rockford as well as numerous great-nieces and nephews.nbsp; Predeceased by parents; 3 sisters, Frieda Balles, Emma Altfelish and Helen Heitzman;nbsp; 4 brothers, August, Otto, Avery and Robert.nbsp; Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am, Tuesday, October 2, 2007 in St. Bernadette Catholic Church with Father Ken Stachyra officiating.nbsp; Visitation from 9:00 am untill service time in the church.
