Paul C. Mower, 88, Rockford, died at 1:20 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2009 in his home. Born April 5, 1921 in Altoona, PA, son of Cyril and Mary Frances Smith Mower. Married Ruth S. Schoch in Altoona at the Cathedral of Blessed Sacrament on July 10, 1943. Veteran of the US Coast Guard. Retired in 1986 from management with Rockwell International. He was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church and a member of the Third Order of St. Francis Secular. He spent 12 years as a dedicated volunteer for OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. Paul loved his Lord, his wife, children and grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Ruth; children, Paula (John) Lundquist, Tucson, AZ, Elise (Charles) Farrell, Oak Lawn, Mary Lou (Robert) Jacob, Chicago, Greg (Kimberly) Mower, Vernon Hills, Gerry (Jim) Bryant, Ashland, KY, Don Mower, Rockford, Robert (Mary ) Mower, Plainfield and Dennis (Debbie) Mower, Rockford. Also survived by his grandchildren, Chris, Nikki, Jack, Tim, Peter, Charlie, Casey, Mia, Shaun, Amy, Chandra, Abraham, Stacy, Paul, Josie, Cassie, Steven, Christopher and Daniel and great-grandchildren, Sophia, Ethan, Colin, Charlie and Max. Predeceased by his parents; brothers, Kenneth and John Mower and son-in-law, Charlie Huff. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 14, 2009 in St. Rita Catholic Church with Rev. Matthew Camaioni officiating. Burial in Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation from 6-8 p.m. Monday in Fitzgerald Funeral Home amp; Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Visitation also from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the church on Tuesday.
