Patty Nau, 84, Rockford, passed away Thursday, September 20, 2018, in Mercyhealth Hospital. She was born September 8, 1934, in Des Moines, IA, the daughter of Fred and Blanch (Eggleston) Taake. Patty attended Drake University and graduated from Rockford College with her degree in teaching. She married John “Bud” Nau in Des Moines, IA on May 29, 1954. He passed away November 13, 2016. Patty taught at Loves Park Elementary, Marquette and Machesney Park schools. She was an active member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church where she was active in many areas including singing in the choir and the Enamon group. Patty was an avid bridge player, a past member of PEO, Chapter LU, was active at Wesley Willows as an Ambassador, and years ago, she had been involved in the Starlight Theatre and the theater at Harlem High School.
Survived by her son, Jeffrey (Deb) Nau of Machesney Park; her grandchildren, Chad (Laura) Carlson, Elizabeth (C.J.) Ogren, and Katherine (Hyato) Thew; 6 great grandchildren and her sister, Jean Winter. Predeceased by her parents, her husband, Bud, her daughter, Susan Carlson, and her grandson, Scott Carlson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, September 26, 2018, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 3300 Rural St. with Reverend Jeff Fricke officiating. Entombment at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. on Wednesday at the church. Arrangements by Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd.
