Patrick "Pat" James Campbell

Patrick James Campbell, 88 of Shirland, IL was called home August 2, 2021.

He attended St. Peter’s School and was a 1950 graduate of West High School. Pat proudly served as a Corporal in the Korean War, and upon his return met and married his loving wife of 66 years, Margaret (Marne) Wixom of Janesville, WI.

Pat volunteered for many years at the Barbara Olson School of Hope. He was a member of the American Legion and Far (Friendship Association of Rockford). Anyone who knew Pat knew of his love of cars, having owned over 100 in his lifetime. His favorite being his Citroen.

Pat was employed many years at American States Insurance Company after which he and his wife Marne moved to Nagoya, Japan to teach English at Nunoike Catholic School and Nagoya Feminine Culture College.

After retiring from teaching, Pat and Marne continued their love of travel visiting friends yearly in Schliersee, Germany and Japan.

Surviving relatives include his wife Marne, daughters Kathleen (Campbell) Denure, Cynthia Campbell. Grandchildren Joshua, Abbey, Shane, Victoria, and Breanna. Great Grandchildren Lydia and Joshua Jr. He was preceded in death by Vera and Ralph James and Brother William.

Pat will be greatly missed by family and friends here and across the world. A special meow from pals Dooley Boy and Tiger Lily.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, August 12, 2021 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. A time of sharing will begin at 6:00 p.m. followed by military honors to conclude at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Riverside Chapel 3910 N.
