Patricia A. Duffey (Corley), 62, Rockford, died at 3:55 a.m. Monday, September 14, 2009 in the University of Wisconsin Medical Center after a long battle with cancer. Born April 24, 1947 in Hazel Green, WI, daughter of John and Eileen OLeary Corley. Patricia was raised in Shullsburg, WI. where she graduated from high school. She received an Associate Degree from Cardinal Stritch University. Married Roger D. Duffey on September 8, 1990. In 2004 she retired as the Director of Credit and Collection from the Barber-Colman Company and previously spent several years at Greenlee Brothers & Company as Credit Manager. She loved to garden and was a Master Gardener. Following her retirement, Patricia and her husband Roger became champions in improving the economic conditions of her beloved hometown of Shullsburg, WI. They purchased properties and opened three retail businesses. In addition to the business ventures, Patricia was the Human Resource Administrator for the Shullsburg Creamery at the time of her death. On January 30, 2009 she received a citation from the Wisconsin State Senate for her efforts as a "promoter, ambassador and organizer for the Community of Shullsburg" . Patricia was an amazing individual. She was an inspiration to all who knew her. She was a daughter, wife, mother grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Her passions were her family, her gardens and her dogs, Bruiser and Bitsy. Her courage, perseverance and endurance are a lesson to us all. Survivors include her husband, Roger; her son, Nick (Paula) Holland her daughter, Wendy (James) Blodgett-Verdouw, her stepdaughter, Kwynn Treanor; her sisters, Donna (Jerry) Shepherd, Helen (Dan) Medlicott and Coleen (Terry) Blackbourn; her brother, Bill (Susan) Corley; her grandchildren, Jacob, Anna, Cora, Rowan, Alyson, Ryan and Christian; her nieces and nephews, Josh, Kyle, Molly, Maggie, Katie, Colette (A.J.), Jeremy (Katie) and Jack. She is predeceased by her parents, John and Eileen Corley and her daughter Tammy. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 18, 2009 in Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Visitation from 5-8 p.m. Thursday with a Rosary to be recited at 7:30 p.m. A private burial will be held in Scandinavian Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Green County, WI.
