Lee Patrick O'Donnell, 84, of Cherry Valley, died Thursday, September 4, 2014 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. He was born on August 7, 1930 in Rockford the son of Lee and Lillian (Murphy) O'Donnell. Graduated from Monroe Center High School and married his loving wife, Lois M. Cutts on July 14, 1951 in Belvidere. Pat was a successful dairy farmer for many years and in 1979 until present time, he proudly accepted the position of Cherry Valley Township Road Commissioner. He will always be remembered for his dedication to the citizens of Cherry Valley Township and the many selfless hours that he gave of himself to the betterment of the Township. Pat had a quick wit about him and was always able to tease you to tears, in a good way, and had a true love for animals, big and small. He enjoyed giving you a nickname and if it stuck, you were golden in his eyes. Pat was a fun loving, hardworking, compassionate man who will be dearly missed by anyone that had the chance to meet him and know him.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Lois O'Donnell; daughter, Billie O'Donnell; son, John O'Donnell; grandchildren, Brianne (Chris) Pearson and Bailey O'Donnell; great grandchildren, Annika and Deklan Pearson and Victoria. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Larry O'Donnell and sisters, Audrey Cook and Roberta Funge.
Funeral Service Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford chapel 1860 S. Mulford Rd. with visitation from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the funeral home. A private burial will be held at Flora Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials to the family.
