Paolina Rosolia, 93, of Marsala, Sicily was born on December 1, 1930, and died peacefully in Rockford, Illinois on July 11, 2024, at home surrounded by her three daughters, Christina, Enza and Ida. She married her beloved husband, Giacomo Rosolia, on June 16, 1961, in Marsala Sicily and they shared 49 wonderful years of marriage before his passing on July 16, 2010. Paolina had a passion for cooking, going to the casino with her friends, and when he was alive, loved going on weekly dates to Lino’s with Giacomo. A fond memory for Paolina was a trip that she took to Vegas in September of 2022 with her daughters and her niece. As much as she loved being a mom, Paolina’s greatest pride and joy were her seven grandchildren, and her four beloved great grandchildren. Whether it was a day at the family pool, a trip to Edward’s Apple Orchard, or simply spending the day shopping, she cherished each moment spent with her family.
She will be missed by those who loved her most, her daughters Christina (Jim) Piccione, Enza Rosolia-DiGirolamo, and Ida (Pete) Graves; her cherished grandchildren Mariangela (Jud) Quinn, Anthony (Victoria) Piccione, Margaret (Nathan) Meadows, Vito DiGirolamo, Giacomo DiGirolamo, Adriana (Brian) Ivens, and Alaina Graves; great grandchildren Elason May Quinn, Violet, Jack and Arden Meadows. Numerous beloved nieces and nephews both in the United States and Sicily, as well as her adored cat, Cheech. She is predeceased by her husband, Giacomo; her parents Leonardo and Vincenza (Ragona) DiGiovanni as well as all nine of her siblings and their spouses. A very special thank you to Hope for Hospice for all of their care and compassion shown to Paolina and her family.
