Opal L. Field

Opal L. Field, 91, passed away in Rockford, Illinois, on November 30, 2022. Born in Leslie, South Dakota, on December 15, 1930, daughter to Fred and Viola (Seymour) Breezley. She married the love of her life, Marshall Field Jr., in Markville, Minnesota, on July 1, 1950, and they were married for 63 years before his passing in 2013. In their time together they enjoyed traveling, camping, and being active with the Cub Scouts with their sons; and continued a few years after that, too . They were longtime parishioners at Westminster Presbyterian Church and past members of Charles Street Presbyterian Church. Opal retired from Warner-Lambert Co. after 15 years of employment. Other hobbies that Opal enjoyed included gardening, crocheting, and she always appreciated a good puzzle.

She will be missed by those who loved her most, her children, Steven (Mary) Field, Alan Field, Lary (Alice) Field, and Gerald (Pam McCarthy) Field; her grandchildren, Stacey (Tim) Cherwin, Gregory Field, Lucas (Leanne) Field, Leanne Field, and Jason (Aimee) Field; her great-grandchildren, Simon, Miles, and Margaret Field; her sisters-in-law, Darlene (Jack) Breit and Darlene Field, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Marshall; her brothers, Wilford “Joe” (June) Breezley, and Delbert Breezley; her sister, Lillian (Melvin) Monson.

A memorial visitation will take place on Thursday, December 8, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford, Illinois, 61108. A private family inurnment will take place at Westminster Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2821 N Bell School Road, Rockford, Illinois, 61107.
