Ofelia Sanchez, 86, of Rockford passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at Presence Saint Anne Center. She was born on December 24, 1930 in Crystal City, TX, the daughter of Leopoldo and Manuela (Rodriguez) Villarreal. She was a devoted member of St. Edward Catholic Church. She owned and operated a restaurant with her husband , La Amistad, in Rockford for many years. She was known for her excellent cooking skills, passion for dancing, and love for flowers. She was remarkably caring, hardworking and was a caregiver to all those she knew. Most importantly, her family was the light of her life. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister, and will be deeply missed by all of those who knew her.
She is survived by her children, Telesforo Sanchez, Esmeralda (Abel) Ortiz, and Diana (John) Guerrero; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; her sisters Eva (Mike) Ochoa, Olga (Pasquele) Musso, Carmen (Richard) Randerson, Sally Rico, Dorothy Flores, Linda Rodriguez, and Mary Marquez; brothers, Richard Villarreal, Leo (Mavis) Villarreal, and Abel (Marcia) Villarreal. She is predeceased by her husand, Felesoro, her grandson, Jaime Ortiz, daughter, Idalia Sanchez, brothers, Rudy and Paul Villarreal, and parents.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, June 19, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Edward Catholic Church. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass. Burial Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Express online condolences at www.fitzgeraldfh.com
