Norma Nygren

Norma Nygren, 87, Rockford, died Friday, March 26, 2010, at Provena St. Anne Center. She was born December 30, 1922, in Belvidere, the daughter of Albert and Emma (Fiebranz) Schwebke. She married Elmer Nygren in Rockford on September 2. 1944, and he predeceased her in Rockford on February 10, 2008. She worked for Liberty Mutual Insurance Co for 22 years, retiring in 1989. Norma volunteered at SwedishAmerican Hospital for many years. She enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great- grandchildrenSurvived by her sons, Bruce (Marijo) Nygren, David (Lynn) Nygren, and daughter, Susan (Steven) McIntosh; grandchildren, Todd McDonald, Stacey (Dean) Smetana, Jennifer (Jeremy) Sturges, Steven (Renee) Nygren, Sonya (Joe) Dreuttel, Seth Nygren, Brent (Jasmin) McIntosh, Jody (Nathan) Mitchell, Spencer Breithaupt, Kristine (fianca© Josh Schroeder) McIntosh, Carly Smith and Chase Nygren; several great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Glen McDonald; sisters, Marg (Norman) Lawton and Phyllis (James) Miller; many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the staff at Provena St. Anne Center for their kind and loving care to both Norma and Elmer.Predeceased by her husband, Elmer, daughter, Patricia McDonald, and son, Steven Nygren.Funeral services for Norma and Elmer will be 10:30 AM Monday, March 29, 2010, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd, Rockford, IL 61108. Burial will be in Scandinavian Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30AM until service time on Monday at the funeral home.
