Norma J. Anderson

Norma J. Anderson, 87, of Rockford, IL, passed away Friday, May 8, 2020. She was born August 3, 1932 at Fort Riley, KS, the daughter to Hibbert and Kathryn (McNeil) Johnson. Norma married James Anderson on May 13, 1961. She proudly served in the United States Army as a nurse overseas. She attended St. Anthony College of Nursing, Rockford College and Northern Illinois University ultimately earning her Masters in Nursing. Norma was a devote Catholic and long-time member of Holy Family Catholic Church and a member of the Carmelites. She taught at St. Anthony College of Nursing. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.
Survived by her children, Margaret Anderson, Robert (Tracey) Anderson, Kathryn (Gregory) Starnes, Maureen Anderson; grandchildren, Anna, Andrew, Sarah, Jack, Thomas, Parker; great grandchildren, Luke and Elara; brothers, Don (Noel) Johnson and Jay (Pat) Johnson; sister-in-law, Jacqueline Anderson. Predeceased by her parents; husband, James and son, Thomas James. The family would like to thank Heather Jackson, Heidi Merchant, and Swedish American Home Health for their care and compassion.
Services will be held privately for the family. Burial in Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association at www.diabetes.org.
