Neil J. Linssen

Neil Linssen, 93, of Rockton, passed away Sunday, September 5, 2021. He was born June 11, 1928 in the son of John and Elizabeth (O’Neil) Linssen. Neil married the love of his life, Colleen Quick, on October 11, 1947 and were married for almost 71 years. Neil worked as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service starting in 1950. He trained some of the first women to deliver mail in the 1960’s. He was a social person with a great sense of humor. One of his favorite quotes was “I’m going to live to 90 and be shot by a jealous husband”. Neil was an avid Chicago Bears and Cubs fan. He always kept busy, and loved meeting with family and friends; especially going to eat. He's been a role model, and always helped a needing hand. He loved AA meetings because of the interactions with people. He left with his dignity; living on his own. Most of all Neil loved his family. Survived by his children, Kathy (John) Luther, Mona (Rick) Lilly and Michael Linssen; grandchildren, Sarah Sitton, Elizabeth Hardy, Anna Mullvain, Jeanette Luther, Jonathan Luther, Zachary Linssen, Cameron Linssen, Jennifer Canfield Duffy and Daniel Lilly; 16 great grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; best friend, Gerry Dvorak Reid. Predeceased by his parents; daughter, Mary Hughes; grandchildren, Suzzanne Luther and Donald Dosier and brother, Peter Linssen.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Sunday, September 12, 2018 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Funeral Service will be Monday, September 13, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral Home. Burial at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
