Nancy O'Brien Myhre

Nancy O’Brien Myhre, 92, of Rockford, passed away February 27, 2018, at Presence St. Anne Center. Born April 9, 1925 in Rockford; she was the daughter of Frank and Frances (McNulty) O’Brien. She married Sigmund “Sig” O. Myhre on July 1, 1950 in Rockford.
A Life member of the Cathedral of St. Peter, she was a teacher at St. Bernadette School for many years. Nancy was also the Administrative Assistant to the Chief Judge of the 17th Judicial Circuit for 17 years, served on the Jury Commission for many years and a member of the County Bar Association.
Nancy enjoyed golfing and going to Door County with her family. She also enjoyed socializing and shopping with her girlfriends, Marian Sterling, Nancy Sandberg, Gin Gorman, Shirley Rubly and Lorraine Shaffer. Nancy and Sig, together, enjoyed spending time with Nancy’s girlfriends and their husbands.
She is survived by her daughter, Martha (Winston Mabuya) Myhre; numerous nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Mary Kay Seymour.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother, Edward O’Brien and sister, Mary Jane O’Brien Wise.

Memorial Mass at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, at the Cathedral of St. Peter, 1243 N. Church Street, Fr. Stephen St. Jules officiating. Rosary at 9 a.m. with visitation from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Corpus Christi Monastery of the Poor Clares, 2111 S Main St, Rockford, IL 61102 or to the family for a memorial to be established in Nancy’s name at a later date.
