Nancy Froelich, 68, of Rockford passed away on Friday, October 27, 2017. She was born on February 5, 1949 in Rockford, the daughter of George “Scoop” and Lucy (Carlson) Slafkosky. She attended Muldoon High School and graduated in 1967. She married the love of her life, Harold “Hal” Froelich in 1983 in Carson City, NV. She was the manager of J.R. Kortman Center for Design where her love for Rockford art and artists was able to flourish. Nancy, more affectionately known as Ninny by family and friends, had a passion for travel, dogs, art, and popular culture. She had a love for television and classic movies which she shared with her husband, and a wonderful sense of humor. Nancy had a timeless sophistication to her and was always a class act. Above all, she was a loving sister, step mother, and friend.
She is survived by her brother, George “Doc” Slafkosky; step daughter, Molly Froelich (Christine LaClair); dear friend Jerry Kortman; brother in-law, Dennis Mackey; and nephew Richard Mackey. She is predeceased by her husband, Hal, her parents, sister Geri Mackey, and step-son Gregory Froelich.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 29, 2017 from 2:00-4:00pm at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Rd, Rockford followed by a celebration of life at Mauh-Nah-Tee-See Country Club from 5-7pm. Private family burial.
