Nancy J. (Garton) St. Angel

Nancy J. (Garton) St. Angel, 76, Rockford, passed away Friday, December 15, 2023. She was born September 8, 1947, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, the daughter of David Jerry and Rose Louise (Barnum) Garton. Nancy married David St. Angel in Rockford on November 23, 1963. Her children were her focus as a mother, homemaker and avid volunteer in their school and community activities. Later in life she worked for Sears retail and management. Nancy served in many roles supporting the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corp, where her husband Dave was Director for 6 years. She was inducted into the Phantom Regiment Hall of Fame in November 2022, having volunteered for decades in many capacities from logistics to sewing, often opening her home to host both members and instructors of the Corps. Nancy’s interests included science, travel and the National Parks. She was an avid baker, gardener, seamstress, and active participant in the lives of her three beloved grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter, Yvonne (Zulfi Amjad) St. Angel of Gilbert, AZ; her son, Kevin (Erica) St. Angel of Madison, WI; her grandchildren, Bella, Dorian and Dario Amjad; her sister, Susan (Lou) Csencsits; her half-brother, David Garton and her half-sister, Dana Garton; her sister- in-law, Jackie St. Angel; her nephews, Mark, Mike, Matt Csencsits and Scott St. Angel; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Predeceased by her parents, her husband Dave, her son David and her daughter Stephanie.

Memorial gathering will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford, IL 61108.
