Nancy A. Gilbert

Nancy A. Gilbert, 80, of Rockford, passed away January 24, 2018 at Swedish American Hospital. Born September 20, 1937 in Appleton, WI, the daughter of Carl & Mary (Hawley) Schleitwiler. Married Fred Gilbert in Appleton on April 4, 1959. They moved here from Nebraska in 1969. She worked for Swedish American Hospital and Visiting Nursing for 30 years, retiring in 1999. Member of First Lutheran Church, Sinnissippi Quilters and member of Tops. She enjoyed quilting, painting China plates, traveling all over the US and Canada, but most of all spending time with family, grandchildren, great grandchildren.

Survivors include husband Fred; children Debra (Kenny Swafford) Palmer, Mary (John) Auerswald and Lee (Jennifer) Gilbert; grandchildren Kenny (Cari) Miller, Valerie Moderhack (Mike Schewe), Mikayla Miracle (Brandon), Karl Auerswald, Damen Morgenroth, Mia Bowitz, Dakota Alexander, Wynter Gilbert; great grandchildren Casey Miller, Melanie and River Schewe Shelby and Dylan Grizzard, Adaleigh Owen, Layla, Charles and Connor Swafford, cousins Sandra Hawley (Bob Toucher) Carol Hawley (Tom) Fassbender deceased (Wisconsin), Sharon Hawley (Keith) Krause (Wisconsin), John Hawley deceased (California), Dan Hawley (Washington), Michael Hawley (California), Linda Hawley (New York), Tammy Hawley (Bruce) Weyenberg (Wisconsin), and close family Joanne (Doug) Franks, Linda (Len) Hertzing, the Doty’s & Roberts.

Memorial service will be February 3rd, 2018 at First Lutheran Church, 225 S 3rd St, Rockford. Visitation from 1:00 to 2:30pm. Service following at 2:30 pm. Memorials to Fred Gilbert.
