Nadine 'Nardi' E. Detlof

Nadine E. 'Nardi' Detlof, 92, of Rockford, passed away on Monday, March 24, 2014, the last of 13 siblings. She was born on October 29, 1921 in Fort Dodge, IA, the daughter of Joseph and Grace (Shortino) LaFranka. She married Charles W. Detlof on November 15, 1950 and together they spent nearly 50 years until his death on April 22, 1999. Nardi loved working at Maria's and spent more than 37 years there until retiring in 1998. She was a kind and generous person who always put her family first and had no trouble "telling you how it was." She enjoyed traveling and spending time with family. She was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church.
Nardi is survived by her children, Linda (Edd) Fry of Winnebago, Chuck Detlof of Rockford, Larry (Cindy) Detlof of Carpentersville, IL and Colleen (Bob) James of Rockford; 9 grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents; husband Charles; son, Stephen. The family would like to thank the staff's of River Bluff and VNA Hospice for their compassionate care.
