Monica K. (King) Rivers, 73, Rockford, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 10, 2015, after a short illness, in Rockford Memorial Hospital. She was born July 28, 1941, in Rockford, the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Hannan) King. She was a graduate of Rockford West High School. Monica married the love of her life, Clifford Rivers in 1967. He passed away on December 9, 2013. She worked in the coffee shop at St. Anthony Hospital, now OSF St. Anthony Medical Center, and later she worked at J.I. Case Co. She was a member of St. Bridget Catholic Church. Monica was an avid Packers fan. She made and sold crafts, loved antiques, and enjoyed going to garage sales. She was deeply proud of her Irish heritage.
Survived by her sisters, Colette Axelson of Winnebago and Betty (Carl) Try of Rockford; her sisters-in-law, Joanne King of Rockford and Jeanne King of Wheaton; and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, her husband, Clifford; her brothers, Jack and Jim King and her brother-in-law, Harold Axelson.
Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 A.M., Friday, May 15, 2015, at St. Bridget Catholic Church, 600 Clifford Av, Loves Park. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. on Friday at the church. Burial in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements by Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Av.
