Miriam "Mimi" L. Mulford

Miriam Lucille Mulford (Mimi) of Rockford, IL died October 11, 2021. Mimi was born June 26, 1923 in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of Samuel J. and Wilhemina Price. She graduated from Purdue University in 1945 with a degree in Foods and Nutrition and in 1946 from Walter Reed Army Medical Center as a registered dietician. After graduating from the Army Medical Corps as a 2nd Lt. she was assigned to Fitzsimmons General Hospital in Denver, Co.
Mimi met R. Keith Mulford at Purdue University, and they were married Sept. 7, 1947 in Battlecreek, Michigan. They moved to Rockford, IL in 1949 where they raised 5 children. She was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority and 1st 2nd Church. She was an avid flower and vegetable gardener and shared her bounty and talents with family, friends and community.
Survivors include son, Keith (Linda) and their children, Kristine (Jon), and Laura (Nick); daughter, Mimi (Dana) Basden and their children, Jason (Brianne), and Lindsay; daughter, Molly (Bill) Kaehms; son, Michael (Mary) Mulford, and daughter, Nancy (Doug) Otwell and their children, Ben (Andrea), Adam (Jennifer), Jennifer (Tim), and Dylan, and 3 great grandchildren, Izabelle, Ana, and Ellie. Predeceased by husband, R. Keith and sister, Nancy.
No public services will be held. Memorials may be sent to the Poplar Grove Aviation Education Association Vintage Wings and Wheels Museum 5151 Orth Rd. Suite A1, Poplar Grove, IL 61065 where Mimi recently became a supporter of the historical Jenny biplane project. Care entrusted with Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory.
