Milton Anthony Cropp

Milton “Milt” Anthony Cropp, 89, of Machesney Park, passed away at home surrounded by his family on January 15, 2025. He was born on February 25, 1935, in Rockford, the son of Ortho and Kathleen (Beetle) Cropp. He married Ann M. Ritter on February 5, 1966, in Rockford, and she preceded him in death on July 25, 2016. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force and spending 4 years in Alaska. Milt and Ann owned and operated Cropp’s Door Service for 35 years before retiring in 2005. 

He was a lifelong member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and a member of the Eagles Club. Milt enjoyed traveling with Ann and helping his brother Ron with his Custom Bar Equipment Business. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching Nascar. He was a hardworking, compassionate, loving, and sometimes stubborn dad, brother, uncle, and friend. 

He is survived by his daughter, Lisa (Don Naker) Cropp; brother, Ron (Barb) Cropp; brother-in-law, Wayne Gabel; niece, Mary (Paul Harrington) Nichols; and grand dogs, Peanut and Marley. He is predeceased by his wife, Ann; son, Dino Cropp; brother, Vince Cropp; and sisters, Lois, Evelyn, Betty, Juanita, and Cathy.

A Funeral Service will be on Monday, January 20, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. with a visitation prior to the service starting at 9:00 a.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Road Rockford, IL 61108. A Night Before Visitation will be held on Sunday evening, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Location. Entombment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rockford Rescue Mission.
