Millard J. “Bud” Devine, 93, of Rockford, IL passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2022. He was born January 28, 1929 in Rockford, IL the son of Millard J. and Genevieve (Callahan) Devine. Bud attended East High School, graduating in 1947. He married the love of his life, Eileen Carlson on October 20, 1951. Bud had a deep passion for gatherings with family and friends and loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved his work as a mason bricklayer and reminisced about his many years of service at the Rockford School District, Board of Education. He also was honored and excited to serve in the U.S. Marine Corps starting in 1947 where he sailed on the USS Midway CV-41 aircraft carrier in Europe. His most favored hobbies included spending summer getaways with his family in Wisconsin, antiquing with his wife Eileen and restoring furniture in his spare time.
Bud is survived by his sons, Noel (Terri) Devine and Jeff (Amie) Devine; grandchildren, Natasha (Jon) Recknagel, Alisen (Braxton) O’Hearn, Nathan (Erin) Devine; step granddaughter, Teddi (Brandon) Whitehead; 8 great grandchildren; sister, Patricia Waskoviak; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Millard and Genevieve (Callahan) Devine, wife Eileen Devine; daughter, Colleen (Gary) Davis; son, Patrick Devine, sisters Mary (Paul) Taunis and Marie (James) Shipley.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 25th, 2022 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, 428 N. Second St. Rockford, IL 61107; followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. and burial at Calvary Catholic Cemetery; luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. James Catholic Church, 428 N.
