Michael William-Joseph Doyle

Michael William-Joseph Doyle, 75, passed away in his hometown of Rockford, Illinois on December 20, 2023. Born on October 14, 1948, son to Joseph and Ruth (Clancy) Doyle. After graduating from West High School, he was drafted into the US Army and served two tours in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne Division. After getting back he spent most of his working career in manufacturing and factory work and finished his career after 9 years at Cherryvale Mall as a security officer. Over the years he took pride in his collectables, ranging from toys, baseball cards, nutcracker’s to hats and “if you have a good jacket, you can pair it with anything.” When he was able, he loved to take his Honda gold wing trike out for rides. He enjoyed watching a good western or detective series, and he loved to fix and build things. His most recent venture was to create a carousel and a functioning Ferris wheel. Two years ago, Mike was diagnosed with cancer and was given a timeframe of 6 to 8 months to live, but he wasn’t the type to go down without a fight. He will be remembered for his spirit, his love of being a father, and always prepared to give a helping hand.

He will be missed by those who loved him most, his children Christopher (Candy) Doyle, Jennifer (Daniel) Doyle Ellwanger, Sean (Jessica) Doyle, Nichole (Scott) Matthews, Tiffany Lobdell, and son-in-law Peter Singmouangthong; his grandchildren Ethan, Emma, Jazmina Singmouangthong and Ellie and Johnnie Doyle; his sister Patricia (Bruce) Scott, and a very special mention to his neighbor wife and close family friend, Ms. Kelly. He is predeceased by his daughter, Kim Singmouangthong; his parents; his siblings Gwendolyn and Steve Doyle.
