Michael S. Babbitt

Rockford- Michael S. Babbitt, 57, of Rockford, died Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at UW Madison Hospital. Born July 24, 1953 in New York, the son of Dick Babbitt and Jo Ann L. (Armstrong) Wolfley. He graduated from Milton College and went on to pursue a dream of entrepreneurship, owning his own Tobacco shop for several years. He was a world traveler and an opportunist at heart. Michael was a warm and caring person and will be missed by all that knew him. Survivors include his sons, Brian (Dana Loucas) of Chicago and Christopher of Rockford; step brothers, Peter and David Wolfley and special friends, Mark Erickson and Ricardo "Rick" Mack and Brian Quinn all of Rockford. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Memorial Mass Monday, June 27, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4401 Highcrest Rd. with Rev. Bernie Sehr officiating. Inurnment will be held in Scandinavian Cemetery. Visitation Sunday, June 26 from 2-4 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel 1860 S. Mulford Rd. with a rosary service to be recited at 4 p.m. in lieu of flowers memorials to the family for a fund to be established at a later date.
